Licking River Kennel Club holds training courses throughout the year for specialties such as AKC Star Puppy, AKC Canine Good Citizen, and Therapy Dog International. Additionally, classes for American Kennel Club performance events, such as Conformation Training. These courses are provided to the local Central Ohio area in an effort to support and educate dog owners.

New Classes beginning in September 11, 2023!
  • Classes for Puppy training and Socialization – dogs 12 weeks to 5-6 months.
  • Puppy and Basic obedience classes are $80 for 8 weeks of class.
  • Conformation practice for the show ring.
  • Conformation classes are $40 for 8 weeks or $5/week for drop-ins.
  • VACCINATION RECORDS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL DOGS.
  • Classes will be held indoors, climate controlled - in Newark, OH. Pre-registration is required, payment due the first night of class.

AKC Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog Evaluations will be offered on November 7, 2022. If you are not attending one of our spring classes but would still like try to complete one of these tests, there is a fee of $10 per dog, per test.

Basic Obedience and Canine Good Citizen

In 1989, the American Kennel Club started the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program as a means of rewarding dogs who were well behaved companions at home and in the community. The Licking River Kennel Club is pleased to Beginner/Basic Obedience which includes AKC Canine Good Citizen training and testing.

Puppy Training, Socialization, and S.T.A.R. Puppy

The American Kennel Club started the S.T.A.R. Puppy Program as an incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken the time to take their puppies through a basic training class. It gets them off to a good start towards well behaved companions at home and in the community. The Licking River Kennel Club is pleased to offer Puppy Training/Socialization/S.T.A.R Puppy classes beginning September 12, 2022.
